About These Rankings

These rankings deviate from our usual approach of using individual sailor ratings to rank teams. Instead, we create a rating for the team itself using only comparisons against other nationals eligible teams. This means we are asking much less of our algorithm than we do in the power rankings and can theoretically yield even greater accuracy in predictions. The only teams that will be included in these rankings or calculations are those that have qualified or are expected to qualify for their respective conference championship. This is to ensure that the data we are using is as accurate as possible.

Conference Comparisons Explained

The conference comparisons are a measurement of how well teams in each conference sail against out of conference teams. The win percentage is calculated by taking the total number of wins by all conference teams against outside teams and dividing it by the total number of races sailed by all conference teams against outside teams.
